1997

August 1, 1997: The National Institute of Technology was renamed National Taipei University of Technology and three more graduate institutes were established: consisting of four colleges: Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Design, and Management, and four departments: Institute of Computer, Communication and Control Engineering, Institute of Civil and Disaster Prevention Engineering, and Institute of Production System Engineering and Management. Two undergraduate programs were established: Department of Vehicle Engineering and Department of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineering.

 

1998

July, 1998: The Affiliated School was promoted to Affiliated College of Extension Study, providing three-year bachelor degree programs to admit students with associate degree.

August 1, 1998: The five-year associate degree programs were discontinued.

August 19, 1998: Establishing four graduate programs: the Graduate Institute of Technological and Vocational Education, the Graduate Institute of Electrical and Energy Engineering, the Graduate Institute of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering, the Graduate Institute of Commerce Automation and Management.

 

1999

July, 1999: The Affiliated College of Extension Study was renamed the Affiliated College of Extension and continuing Education .

July 15, 1999: The Center of Innovation and Incubation was established.

August 1, 1999: Establishing six graduate programs: the Graduate Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Graduate Institute (of) Refrigeration and Cryogenic Technology, Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Technology, Graduate Institute of Biochemical and Process Engineering, Graduate Institute of Organic and Polymeric Materials and Graduate Institute of Architecture and Urban Design were added.

Establishing two two-year bachelor degree programs: the Department of Business Management and the Department of English.

 

2000

February, 2000: The ISO Accreditation Project Team launched to strengthen administrative efficiency.

Establishing the Center of Water Environment Research.

August 1, 2000: Establishing six graduate programs: Graduate Institute of Vehicle Engineering, Graduate Institute of information Engineering, Graduate Institute of Automation Technologies, Graduate Institute of Environment Planning and Management, Graduate Institute of Innovation Design and Graduate Institute of Chemical Engineering.

Establishing one bachelor degree program: the department of Industrial Engineering.

 

2001

2001: Emeritus Professorship awarded by the University Faculty Review Board to Professor of the Graduate Institute of Technological and Vocational Education, Prof. Chi-luo Meng.

May 15-18, 2001: Celebrating the University's Ninetieth Anniversary on the theme of "Hand-in- Hand Journey Through History" The series of activities included Campus Photograph, Exhibition and Panel Discussions.

August 1, 2001: Establishing the Doctoral Degree Program of Graduate Institute of Engineering Technology, two-year program of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and Department of Electro-optical Engineering.

 

2002

2002: The "Silicon Nano Device Research Center" was established.

The Department of Molecular Science and Engineering was established.

 

2003

August 1, 2003: Establishing the Doctoral Degree Program of Electrical Engineering and Computer Communication and Control.

December 19, 2003: The Center of EMO Materials and Nanotechnology was established.

 

2004

February 2, 2004: Dr. Tsu-tien Lee succeeded as the President.

July, 2004: Dr. Ho-tung Chang, passed the doctoral degree examination of the Graduate Institute, was awarded the first Ph. D. degree bestowed by the University.

August 1, 2004: Establishing the Departments of Information Engineering, Electro-Optical Engineering, Operation Management of the four-year program. The technical college of the two-year program was discontinued. The doctoral programs of Technical and Vocational Education and Electro-Optical Engineering were established.

October 1, 2004: The orientation ceremony of the "Gambian Petroleum in Material and Mineral Resources Engineering", a pioneering program in Taiwan, marked the era of international education cooperation.

 

2005

February 1, 2005: Establishing the Arts Center.

August 1, 2005: Establishing the doctoral programs of Information Engineering, Industrial and Business Management and the on-the-job master program of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

 

2006

2June 23, 2006: Honorary Doctoral Degrees award to Alumni Me. Hung-yu Lin and Mr. Kung-yuan Sung at the 2006 commencement ceremony.

August 1, 2006: The College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was established.

The Alumni Liaison Center was established.

The doctoral programs of Graduate Institute of Design, the master program of Graduate Institute of Resources Engineering and the bachelor programs of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Technology, Engineering Technology and Creative Design were established.

 

2007

2007: The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence in Northern Region was established.

The doctoral programs of Energy and Refrigerating Air-Conditioning Engineering and Organic and Polymeric Materials were established.

September, 2007: Establishing the "Gambian Information Technology Elite Program."

 

2008

August 1, 2008: Establishing the master program of Dept. of English, the doctoral program of Industrial Engineering and Management and the "Gambia Civil Engineering Program."

 

2009

2009: The doctoral programs of Materials Science and Engineering. Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology were established.

The Master programs of Interactive Media Design and Information and Logistics Management were established.

 

2011

February 1, 2011: Dr. Leehter Yao succeeded as the President.

2011: The Department of Cultural Vocation Development, Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property, and the doctoral program in Civil Engineering were established.

Establishing University System of Taipei with National Taipei University and Taipei Medical University. (National Taiwan Ocean University joined in 2014.)

 

2012

2012: The doctoral program in Environment Engineering and Management was established.

 

2013

2013: The Departments of Interactive Design, Information and Finance Management, and the doctoral program in Manufacturing Technology were established.

The on‐the‐job master’s program in Interactive Media Design, the EMBA program in Information Management and the EMBA overseas program in Thailand were established in the School of Extension Education.

Two industry-academia-training cooperation programs in Vehicle Engineering and in Energy and Refrigerating Air-Conditioning Engineering were established in the School of Extension Education.

Two industrial-academic collaboration programs in Mechanical Engineering and in Electrical Engineering were established in the School of Extension Education.

 

2014

2014: The EMBA overseas program in Dongguan, the on‐the‐job master’s program in Business Management, two four-year college programs in Industrial Engineering and Management and Electrical Engineering, and the Industry-academia-training cooperation program in Mechanical Engineering were established in the School of Extension Education.

 

2015

2015: The EMBA overseas program in Shanghai, the on‐the‐job master’s program in Intellectual Property and the industrial-academic collaboration program in Electrical Engineering were established in the School of Extension Education.

 

2016

2016: Tao-Yuan Agricultural and Industrial Senior High School became an official affiliate and was renamed the Affiliated Tao-Yuan Agricultural and Industrial Senior High School of National Taipei University of Technology.

The EMBA program under the College of Management established the Tao-yuan credit program.

Two industry-academia-training cooperation programs in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering (wooden furniture work class) were established in the School of Extension Education.

 

2017

Wen-lung Li assumed the position of acting president.
Restoration of the Historic Red House Completed and Reopened.
The Department of Cultural Vocation Development started to offer its master’s program, and the international master’s programs in energy and refrigeration and in vehicle engineering were also inaugurated.
Taipei Tech signed academic cooperation agreements with Thailand’s Thammasat University and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi; and with Australia’s Western Sydney University.
Taipei Tech signed an academic-industry cooperation agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and set up CityScienceLab@TaipeiTech, MIT’s first sister laboratory in Taiwan.
 

2018

Sea-fue Wang succeeded as the president.
The Department of Interaction Design started to offer the International Bachelor’s Program of Interaction Design and Innovation.

2019

The University Social Responsibility Office (USR Center) was established.
An academic cooperation agreement was signed with the University of Malaya.
The Joint Service Center opened.
The International Master’s Program in Financial Technology (IMFI) was established.
The EMBA program launched the Case Lecture Hall (Harvard Lecture Hall).
The five-year junior college program was reinstated, admitting thirty junior high school graduates into the Smart Automation Engineering track. Taipei Tech partnered with IBM and introduced the IBM P-Tech module, in which a student had two mentors, one being a Taipei Tech faculty member, the other an IBM employee.

2020

The Disaster Prevention Engineering Technology Center was upgraded to a university-level research center.
Taipei Tech was ranked 1st place globally in the high-rise buildings category in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking.
Taipei Tech signed an academic cooperation agreement with Japan’s Kyushu University through a virtual signing ceremony.
Taiwan’s first Artisan Training Base for Diverse and Small Quantity Woodcraft was established at Taipei Tech. 
The Mechanical and Electrical Technology Excellent Skill Program was established, enrolling thirty students with outstanding performance in related skill competitions.

2021

The Indigenous Tribal Habitat Construction and Green Livelihood Promotion Project received the GVM Magazine Best USR Local Inclusion Award.
Taipei Tech signed an academic cooperation agreement with Japan’s Tohoku University.
Taipei Tech formed the Taipei Vocational School Alliance with seven vocational high schools in the Hand-in-hand for Common Prosperity ceremony. 
The Advanced Civil Engineering Construction and Management Master’s Degree Program was formed under the Office of Continuing Education.
Twenty on-the-job master’s programs were reorganized to be managed by the Office of Continuing Education. They included programs in electrical engineering; electronic engineering; vehicles engineering; energy and disaster prevention; organic polymer; automation; materials engineering; environment engineering; architecture and urban planning; English; business management; intellectual property rights; and interaction design. 
The Artificial Intelligence Technology Master’s Degree Program and the EMBA Japan Overseas Program were approved by the Ministry of Education and scheduled to admit students in the 2022 academic year.
One additional column was installed in the Centennial Monument, marking 110 years of the university's history.

2022

Taipei Tech established Taiwan’s first Metaverse XR Research Center.
Sea-fue Wang was re-elected as the president.
The Frontier Institute of Research for Science and Technology (FIRST) and the Innovation Frontier Institute of Research for Science and Technology (iFIRST College) were unveiled, both housed in the new Pioneer International R&D Building, which also opened this year.
The Offshore Wind Power Engineering Research Center opened.
The Institutional Research Center and the USR Center merged into the Institutional Research and Sustainability Development Center.
The Zhongxiao Arts and Cultural Gallery opened.

2023
