Japanese colonial Period (1912~1945)
1912
July 5, 1912: The Auxiliary Industrial Institute of the Education Affairs Office of the Civil Administration Department was established by the Taiwan Governor General Office in Ta-an Precinct, Tachiana District, Taipei Prefecture (current site). Mr. Kichijiku Kumamoto was appointed as the President. The Institute, consisting of three departments: Woodcraft, Metalwork and Electrical Engineering, ushered in an era of industrial education in Taiwan.
1914
June 23, 1914: The Institute was renamed Taiwan Governor General Office Industrial Institute.
1918
July 18, 1918: Taiwan Governor General Office Industrial Institute was established, providing five-year degree programs to students whose nationality was Japanese. The degree programs included Mechanical Engineering, Applied Chemistry and Civil Engineering.
1919
April 1, 1919: Taiwan Governor General Office Industrial Institute was renamed Taiwan Public Taipei Industrial Institute.
1921
April 1, 1921: Taiwan (Public Taipei) Industrial Institute was renamed Taipei Prefecture Taipei First Industrial Institute admitting students of Japanese nationality. Taiwan Public Taipei Industrial Institute was renamed Taipei Prefecture Taipei Second Industrial Institute, admitting Taiwanese students. The campus was shared by two school systems.
1923
April 1, 1923: Taipei Prefecture Taipei First Industrial Institute and Taipei Prefecture Taipei Second Industrial Institute were merged as Taipei Prefecture Taipei Industrial Institute , consisting of five departments: Electrical engineering, Architecture, Applied Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
1937
April 1, 1937: The Department of Mining was established in Taipei Prefecture Taipei Industrial Institute.
1939
April 8, 1919: The Taiwan Governor General Office established Industrial Technician Development Institute , providing evening program.
Provincial Taipei Vocational School of Industry(1945~1948)
1945
December 31, 1945: The school was renamed Taiwan Provincial Taipei Vocational School of Industry. Both primary and advanced levels of programs were provided, consisting of six departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical and Mining. Mr. Te-san Tu was appointed as the first President.
1946
January, 1946: The One-year Subsidiary Program for Intermediate-Level Technicians was established in Taiwan Provincial Taipei Vocational School of Industry .
September 1, 1946: Mr. Shih-an Wang succeeded as the President.
October 1, 1946: Mr. Chuo-chien Chien succeeded as the President.
Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology(1948~1994)
1948
August, 1948: The school was promoted and renamed Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology providing five-year associate degree programs, admitting junior high-school graduates to study in the fields of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
The One-year Subsidiary Program for Intermediate-Level Technicians was renamed Provincial Taipei First Technician Development School.
November 1, 1948: First day of school, later official observed as the day of anniversary.
December, 1948: The Subsidiary Technician Program of Mechanical Engineering of Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology was established.
1949
July 25, 1949: Mr. Po-yen Ku succeeded as the President.
August, 1949: The Departments of Chemical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering were established.
October, 1949: Provincial Taipei First Technician Development School was renamed Provincial First Affiliated Vocational School .
1950
September, 1950: The Department of Civil Engineering was established.
1951
September, 1951: The Department of Civil Engineering established the two-year degree program.
1952
1952: The Department of Chemical engineering established the two-year degree program.
December 4, 1952: Mr. Hsi-shang Sung succeeded as the President.
1953
1953: The Department of Mechanical, Electronical and Textile Engineering established the three-year degree program. Two-year associate degree program was abolished.
May 11, 1953: Mr. Tai-kuang Kang succeeded as the President
1954
August 1, 1954: The Departments of Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering established the three-year associate degree program.
1957
1957: The Subsidiary Technician Program of Mechanical Engineering of Taipei Institute of Technology was renamed Taipei Subsidiary Technician Development Program in Affiliated School at Taipei First Affiliated Industrial School.
1958
February 10, 1958: Mr. Tan Chang succeeded as the President.
1961
July 7, 1961: The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Engineering established the two-year associate degree program.
1963
August, 1963: The Department of Electrical Engineering Department established the two-year associate degree program.
1965
February 18, 1965: Mr. Kuo-hua Chao succeeded as the President.
August 1, 1965: The Evening School was established.
1966
1966: The Department of Industrial Engineering of the three-year associate program was established. The Departments of Industrial Engineering and Industrial Design established the two-year associate degree program. August, 1966: The Industrial Design Division of the Department of Civil Engineering was merged into the Department of Industrial Design.
1967
June 13, 1967: The Departments of Metallurgical Engineering and Electronic Engineering established the three-year associate degree program.
1971
March 1, 1971: The Computer Center was established.
August 1, 1971: The Department of Textile Engineering was renamed the Department of Fiber Engineering.
December 30, 1971: Mr. Chih Tang succeeded as the President.
1972
1972. Industrial Training Division of the Department of Electrical Engineering was established.
The Open School, consisting of two departments: Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, was established.
The Center for School-Industry Cooperation at Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology was established
1973
民國六十二年二月一日，與臺灣電信局合作，辦理電訊專科班。
February 1, 1973: In association with Taiwan Telecommunication Bureau, a Telecommunication cohort program was launched.
1975
民國六十四年，增設三專工業設計科。
1975: The Department of Industrial Design of the three-year associate degree program was established.
1977
民國六十六年七月二十日，奉准設立臺灣省立臺北工業專科進修補習學校，設機械、電機、化工、工業工程四科。
July 20, 1977: The four departments: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Industrial Engineering were established at the Affiliated School of Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology.
1979
民國六十八年八月一日，纖維工程科紡織組、化纖組分別更名為紡織工業科紡織工程組及紡織化學組。
August 1, 1979: The division programs of Textile & Fiber Engineering, Fiber Engineering, and Chemical Fiber Engineering were renamed Industrial Textile Engineering and Textile Chemistry
1980
民國六十九年十月，本校頒發畢業證書編列第一號予俞石獅校友。
October, 1980: First degree Diploma granted to Mr. Shih-shih Yu.
1981
民國七十年七月，臺灣省立臺北工業專科學校改名為國立臺北工業專科學校。
July, 1981: Taiwan Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology renamed National Taipei Institute of Technology.
1983
民國七十二年，增設臺灣第一所二專核能工程科，為建教合作專科。
1983: The Department of Nuclear Engineering of the two-year program was established, launching as the first nuclear program in Taiwan, a two-year school-industry cohort program.
1984
民國七十三年十二月三十一日，張文雄先生接任校長。
December 31, 1984: Mr. Wen-hsiung Chang succeeded as the President.
1987
民國七十六年，增設三專建築設計科。
工業工程科更名為工業工程與管理科。
二月，本校實習輔導室 成立校友聯絡中心。
八月，工業設計科建築設計組獨立為建築設計科。
1987: The three-year associate degree program of Architecture Design was established.
The Department of Industrial Engineering was renamed the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.
February, 1987: The Center for Alumni Liaison was established under the Office of Career Development.
August, 1987: The Division Program was separated from the Department of Industrial Design to establish the Department of Architecture Design.
1988
民國七十七年七月三十一日，礦冶工程科更名為材料及資源工程科。
July 31, 1988: The Department of Metallurgical Engineering was renamed the Department of Materials and Resources Engineering.
1989
民國七十八年八月一日，張天津先生接任校長。
August 1, 1989: Mr. Tien-chin Chang succeeded as the President.
1990
民國七十九年八月八日，本校奉教育部核准成立改制技術學院籌備規劃小組，並成立五個工作小組積極推動改制工作。
August 8, 1990: The Planning Committee for National Taipei Institute of Technology was approved by MOE and established for promotion.
1991
民國八十年六月，成立自動化科技中心，主要任務在整合本校機械、電機、電子及工工等各系有關自動化方面之人才設備。
June, 1991: Establishing the center for Automation Technology to integrate the consolidated efforts and resources from the four departments of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Industrial Engineering.
1992
民國八十一年一月二十五日，教育部同意本校以台北縣萬里鄉中萬里加投段及基隆市安樂區大武崙段等部份土地作為第二校區預定地。
八月，增設光電科技中心。
January 25, 1992: The proposal for second campus at Wanli Township, Taipei county was approved by MOE.
August, 1992: The Electro-Optical Technology Center was established.
技術學院 National Taipei Institute of Technology
（1994~1997）
1994
民國八十三年八月一日，國立臺北工專改制為國立臺北技術學院，設立機械工程、電機工程、化學工程、材料及資源工程、土木工程、紡織工程、電子工程、工業工程、工業設計、建築設計等十個技術系。
停招二專及三專，五專學制繼續招生。
August 1, 1994: Promoted to National Taipei Institute of Technology , consisting of ten departments: Mechanical Engineer ing, Elect r ical Engineer ing, Chemical Engineering, Materials and Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Textile Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Design and Architecture Design.
Two-year and three-year associate degree programs were discontinued. Five-year associate program continued.
1995
民國八十四年五月一日，成立本校第一個研究所－機電整合研究所。
民國八十四年八月一日，本校共同學科成立七組教學研究會，設主任一人。
民國八十四年八月，首次藉由遴選制度產生11位系主任。
設置進修推廣部。
May 1, 1995: The Institute of Mechatronic Engineering, the first graduate institute, was established.
August 1, 1995: Center for General Education was established, headed by GE director.
August, 1995: Chairs to eleven departments were selected.

1996
民國八十五年九月廿九日，臺北縣萬里第二校區正式獲撥用，母校邁入新紀元。
September 29, 1996: The land for the second campus in Wanli Township, Taipei County was acquired, marking a new era for the institute.
1997
民國八十六年四月廿五日，本校獲頒八十五年度服務貢獻、辦學績優、行政考核優良、師資考核優良及視導評鑑優良五獎。
April 25, 1997: Awards granted by MOE to the institute: Outstanding Services and Contributions, Excellent Teaching, Best Administration, Distinguished Faculty and First-degree Evaluation.
科技大學 National Taipei University of technology
（1997~）
1997
民國八十六年八月一日，正式改名為國立臺北科技大學，設立機電、工程、設計、管理四大學院，並增設電腦通訊與控制研究所、土木與防災技術研究所、生產系統工程與管理研究所。同時增設車輛工程技術系及冷凍空調技術系。
民國八十六年十一月一日，北科大首度校慶 連戰副總統蒞臨賀勉。
August 1, 1997: The National Institute of Technology was renamed National Taipei University of Technology and three more graduate institutes were established: consisting of four colleges: Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Design, and Management, and four departments: Institute of Computer, Communication and Control Engineering, Institute of Civil and Disaster Prevention Engineering, and Institute of Production System Engineering and Management. Two undergraduate programs were established: Department of Vehicle Engineering and Department of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineering.
November 1, 1997: Vice President Lien-Chan visited and congratulated on the University's First Anniversary.
1998
民國八十七年七月，本校附設專科進修補習學校奉准升格改制為進修補習學院，為二技3年學制，改招專科畢業生修業學生。
八月一日，停招五專。
八月十九日，增設技術及職業教育研究所、電力與能源技術研究所、材料及資源工程研究所、商業自動化與管理研究所。
July, 1998: The Affiliated School was promoted to Affiliated College of Extension Study, providing three-year bachelor degree programs to admit students with associate degree.
August 1, 1998: The five-year associate degree programs were discontinued.
August 19, 1998: Establishing four graduate programs: the Graduate Institute of Technological and Vocational Education, the Graduate Institute of Electrical and Energy Engineering, the Graduate Institute of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering, the Graduate Institute of Commerce Automation and Management.
1999
民國八十八年七月，國立臺北科技大學附設進修補習學院，更名為國立臺北科技大學附設進修學院。
民國八十八年七月十五日，成立創新育成中心。
民國八十八年八月一日，增設製造科技研究所、冷凍與低溫科技研究所、光電技術研究所、生化與程序工程研究所、有機高分子研究所、建築與都市設計研究所。
增設經營管理系（二技）、應用英文系（二技）。
July, 1999: The Affiliated College of Extension Study was renamed the Affiliated College of Extension and continuing Education .
July 15, 1999: The Center of Innovation and Incubation was established.
August 1, 1999: Establishing six graduate programs: the Graduate Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Graduate Institute (of) Refrigeration and Cryogenic Technology, Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Technology, Graduate Institute of Biochemical and Process Engineering, Graduate Institute of Organic and Polymeric Materials and Graduate Institute of Architecture and Urban Design were added.
Establishing two two-year bachelor degree programs: the Department of Business Management and the Department of English.
2000
民國八十九年二月，為提昇本校行政效率，加強服務品質，組織ISO 9001品質驗證推動小組，積極推動取得國際驗證工作。
成立水環境研究中心。
民國八十九年三月三日，迎千禧年共同宣言紀念碑於本校紅樓前揭幕，由張天津校長及各級主管和師生代表數百人參加，鐫刻嚴文方副校長題撰之千禧宣言碑文－人類科技文明的發展，我們曾經參與，從兩千年起，我們更要共同努力追求卓越。
民國八十九年八月一日，增設車輛工程研究所、資訊工程研究所、自動化科技研究所、環境規劃與管理研究所、創新設計研究所、化學工程研究所。
增設工業工程技術系。
February, 2000: The ISO Accreditation Project Team launched to strengthen administrative efficiency.
Establishing the Center of Water Environment Research.
March 3, 2000: The Millennium Monument Unveiling Ceremony hosted by the President Tien-chin Chang. Words engraved on the monument by the University Vice-President Wen-fang Yen: "Participating in the past civilization and technology development, we pledge to continue our pursuit of excellence for high human development."
August 1, 2000: Establishing six graduate programs: Graduate Institute of Vehicle Engineering, Graduate Institute of information Engineering, Graduate Institute of Automation Technologies, Graduate Institute of Environment Planning and Management, Graduate Institute of Innovation Design and Graduate Institute of Chemical Engineering.
Establishing one bachelor degree program: the department of Industrial Engineering.
2001
民國九十年，經教評會通過，首度頒發榮譽教授予技職所孟繼洛教授。
民國九十年五月十五至十八日，慶祝九十週年校慶系列活動：一同走過從前校園影展暨座談活動，敬邀孫運璿資政、法務部長陳定南及台北市副市長歐晉德共同參與。
民國九十年八月一日，增設工程科技研究所博士班、二技資訊工程系、光電科技系。
2001: Emeritus Professorship awarded by the University Faculty Review Board to Professor of the Graduate Institute of Technological and Vocational Education, Prof. Chi-luo Meng.
May 15-18, 2001: Celebrating the University's Ninetieth Anniversary on the theme of "Hand-in- Hand Journey Through History" The series of activities included Campus Photograph, Exhibition and Panel Discussions. Honorary Senior Advisors of the President Yun-hsuen Sun, Minister of Justice Ting-nan Chen, and Taipei Deputy Mayor Chin-te Ou attended and shared their experiences.
August 1, 2001: Establishing the Doctoral Degree Program of Graduate Institute of Engineering Technology, two-year program of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and Department of Electro-optical Engineering.
2002
民國九十一年，成立奈米矽元件研發中心。
增設分子科學與工程系。
經教評會通過，頒發榮譽教授予電子系王瑞材教授及材資系吳裕慶教授。

2003
民國九十二年，經教評會通過，頒發榮譽教授予電子系嚴文方教授，技職所張天津教授及化工系張文雄教授。
民國九十二年八月一日，增設電機工程系博士班、電腦通訊與控制研究所博士班。
民國九十二年十二月十九日，成立奈米光電磁材料技術研發中心。

December 19, 2003: The Center of EMO Materials and Nanotechnology was established.
2004
民國九十三年二月二日，李祖添博士接任校長，教育部呂木琳次長主持監交，高明輝元老及校友總會長等多位貴賓及本校主管、同仁共同觀禮。
民國九十三年七月，機電科技研究所張合通過博士學位考試，成為本校第一位博士生。
民國九十三年八月一日，設立四年制資訊工程系、光電工程系、經營管理系，二技學制停招。
增設技術及職業教育研究所博士班、光電工程系博士班。 民國九十三年十月一日，甘比亞石油專班開學典禮。該班為本校與西非甘比亞共和國合作而開設之四年制學士專班，亦為國內與西非建教合作之首創。
February 2, 2004: Dr. Tsu-tien Lee succeeded as the President. The Presidential Inauguration Ceremony was overseen by Deputy Minister of Education Mu-lin Lu, and attended by Mr. Ming-hui Kao and the members of the alumni association and executives and associates of the university.
July, 2004: Dr. Ho-tung Chang, passed the doctoral degree examination of the Graduate Institute, was awarded the first Ph. D. degree bestowed by the University.
August 1, 2004: Establishing the Departments of Information Engineering, Electro-Optical Engineering, Operation Management of the four-year program. The technical college of the two-year program was discontinued. The doctoral programs of Technical and Vocational Education and Electro-Optical Engineering were established.
October 1, 2004: The orientation ceremony of the "Gambian Petroleum in Material and Mineral Resources Engineering", a pioneering program in Taiwan, marked the era of international education cooperation.
2005
民國九十四年二月一日，成立藝文中心。
民國九十四年八月一日，增設資訊工程系博士班、工商管理研究所博士班及電資碩士在職專班。

August 1, 2005: Establishing the doctoral programs of Information Engineering, Industrial and Business Management and the on-the-job master program of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
2006
民國九十五年六月二十三日，九十五學年度畢業典禮，首度頒發名譽博士予林宏裕、宋恭源校友。
民國九十五年八月一日，成立電資學院。
成立校友聯絡中心。
增設設計研究所博士班、資源工程研究所碩士班、大學部四年制機電、電資、工程科技、創意設計等四學士班。
2June 23, 2006: Honorary Doctoral Degrees award to Alumni Me. Hung-yu Lin and Mr. Kung-yuan Sung at the 2006 commencement ceremony.
August 1, 2006: The College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was established.
The Alumni Liaison Center was established.
The doctoral programs of Graduate Institute of Design, the master program of Graduate Institute of Resources Engineering and the bachelor programs of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Technology, Engineering Technology and Creative Design were established.
2007
民國九十六年，成立北區技專校院教學資源中心。
增設能源與冷凍空調工程系博士班、有機高分子研究所博士班。
民國九十六年九月，增設甘比亞電資專班。
2007: The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence in Northern Region was established.
The doctoral programs of Energy and Refrigerating Air-Conditioning Engineering and Organic and Polymeric Materials were established.
September, 2007: Establishing the "Gambian Information Technology Elite Program."
2008
民國九十七年八月一日，增設應用英文系碩士班、工業工程與管理系博士班、甘比亞土木專班。
August 1, 2008: Establishing the master program of Dept. of English, the doctoral program of Industrial Engineering and Management and the "Gambia Civil Engineering Program."
2009
民國九十八年，增設材料科學與工程研究所博士班、化學工程與生物科技研究所博士班。
增設互動媒體設計研究所碩士班、資訊與運籌管理研究所碩士班。
本校頒發名譽博士予嚴隆財校友。
2009: The doctoral programs of Materials Science and Engineering. Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology were established.
The Master programs of Interactive Media Design and Information and Logistics Management were established.
The Honorary Doctor was awarded to alumnus Mr. Lung-tsai Yen.
